In this first stage, the catalogue focuses on the modern and contemporary architecture designed and built between 1832 –year of construction of the first industrial chimney in Barcelona that we establish as the beginning of modernity– until today.
The project is born to make the architecture more accessible both to professionals and to the citizens through a website that is going to be updated and extended. Contemporary works of greater general interest will be incorporated, always with a necessary historical perspective, while gradually adding works from our past, with the ambitious objective of understanding a greater documented period.
The collection feeds from multiple sources, mainly from the generosity of architectural and photographic studios, as well as the large amount of excellent historical and reference editorial projects, such as architectural guides, magazines, monographs and other publications. It also takes into consideration all the reference sources from the various branches and associated entities with the COAC and other collaborating entities related to the architectural and design fields, in its maximum spectrum.
Special mention should be made of the incorporation of vast documentation from the COAC Historical Archive which, thanks to its documental richness, provides a large amount of valuable –and in some cases unpublished– graphic documentation.
The rigour and criteria for selection of the works has been stablished by a Documental Commission, formed by the COAC’s Culture Spokesperson, the director of the COAC Historical Archive, the directors of the COAC Digital Archive, and professionals and other external experts from all the territorial sections that look after to offer a transversal view of the current and past architectural landscape around the territory.
The determination of this project is to become the largest digital collection about Catalan architecture; a key tool of exemplar information and documentation about architecture, which turns into a local and international referent, for the way to explain and show the architectural heritage of a territory.

Antoni Campañá i Bandranas:
Deixeble de Joaquim Pla i Janini i de Willy Zielke, a Munic, la seva primera obra s’inscriu dins del corrent pictorialista. Professional des dels primers anys de la dècada de 1920, es dedicà sobretot a les fotos de casaments i esdeveniments socials, camp en el qual aconseguí renom per la rapidesa en el revelatge. La música i els espectacles també foren temes que l’interessaren. Treballà per a l’empresa Leica i, com a fotoperiodista, per a La Vanguardia. El 1934 es publicà una de les seves fotografies a la revista American Photography. Durant la Guerra Civil treballà com a xofer de l’exèrcit republicà i, tot i no ser corresponsal de guerra, feu milers de fotografies de Barcelona durant la contesa, part de les quals foren emprades pel Comissariat de Propaganda. Catòlic, republicà i catalanista, el 1939 es lliurà als franquistes (que utilitzaren també les seves imatges amb finalitats propagandístiques) i, gràcies als seus contactes, aconseguí evitar ser depurat. Després de la guerra continuà fotografiant escenes de Barcelona, però aviat es dedicà sobretot a la fotografia esportiva, camp en el qual fou cofundador del diari Dicen (1950). Cofundador de la revista Luz i autor de treballs sobre la història de la fotografia a Catalunya, publicà els llibres Orientaciones fotográficas (1946) i Pirineus (1979). Poc abans de morir li fou dedicada una exposició. Quatre dècades més tard, en ocasió de la venda de la seva casa de Sant Cugat els seus nets descobriren dues capses amb més de 5.000 fotografies de la Guerra Civil i els primers anys del franquisme a Barcelona. Pel volum i l’amplitud de la temàtica (escenes de la vida quotidiana, desfilades, bombardeigs, crema d’esglésies) es considera una de les aportacions gràfiques més completes d’aquest període. El 2019 se’n publicà una selecció de 400 fotografies en el volum La capsa vermella, a cura de Plàcid Garcia-Planas, Arnau González i David Ramos. De la seva obra més artística destaca Tracció de sang (1933, MNAC).
