About
In this first stage, the catalogue focuses on the modern and contemporary architecture designed and built between 1832 –year of construction of the first industrial chimney in Barcelona that we establish as the beginning of modernity– until today.
The project is born to make the architecture more accessible both to professionals and to the citizens through a website that is going to be updated and extended. Contemporary works of greater general interest will be incorporated, always with a necessary historical perspective, while gradually adding works from our past, with the ambitious objective of understanding a greater documented period.
The collection feeds from multiple sources, mainly from the generosity of architectural and photographic studios, as well as the large amount of excellent historical and reference editorial projects, such as architectural guides, magazines, monographs and other publications. It also takes into consideration all the reference sources from the various branches and associated entities with the COAC and other collaborating entities related to the architectural and design fields, in its maximum spectrum.
Special mention should be made of the incorporation of vast documentation from the COAC Historical Archive which, thanks to its documental richness, provides a large amount of valuable –and in some cases unpublished– graphic documentation.
The rigour and criteria for selection of the works has been stablished by a Documental Commission, formed by the COAC’s Culture Spokesperson, the director of the COAC Historical Archive, the directors of the COAC Digital Archive, and professionals and other external experts from all the territorial sections that look after to offer a transversal view of the current and past architectural landscape around the territory.
The determination of this project is to become the largest digital collection about Catalan architecture; a key tool of exemplar information and documentation about architecture, which turns into a local and international referent, for the way to explain and show the architectural heritage of a territory.

L’escola s’emplaça en un terreny completament pla que hi ha al sud de Banyoles, solcat pels recs que equilibren el flux de l’estany. El projecte pren com a referència el parc que hi ha al costat de la parcel·la, com també el caràcter que les construccions rurals atorguen al paisatge. Les activitats comunes se situen en un braç que dóna la façana al parc, del qual parteixen els tres cossos dels aularis, de dues plantes. Tota la disposició respecta la traça dels recs i dels camins existents, i ofereix al parc una façana escalonada que recorda les construccions fabrils aïllades, tan freqüents en els terrenys agrícoles.
... al sud de Banyoles, en el lloc anomenat Pla de I'Ametller, un terreny extremadament pla, actualment agrícola i solcat per recs que formen part del sistema d'equilibri de flux d’aigües de l'estany.
L'escola se situa al mig de I'espai lliure que defineixen la seva parcel·la i el parc. "La futura escola està al mig d'un jardí". El referent del projecte són les vil·les.
Tres d'aquestes naus s'estenen cap a I'interior del solar, formant els pavellons d'aulari que cerquen I'espai i la privacitat. La disposició dels pavellons reprodueix la traça dels recs i dels camins existents i ordena I'espai lliure en àmbits més petits, llocs acotats i recollits per a la concentració.
La part del programa més pública, amb el porxo i el gimnàs del segon volum, se situa fent façana al parc. El perfil esglaonat, vagament fabril, s’oposa a la horitzontalitat de l’entorn, del qual no obstant recull la coloració.
1 EL PERFIL
Per explicar el pla dels ametllers un exercici:
Plegar la extrema planeitat del terreny per replicar el perfil de les muntanyes que envolten el Pla de Banyoles.
2 EL LLINDAR
En el pla de façana de 151 metres de llarg dibuixar una boca.
Una boca llindar per ser una porta des de fora i, des de dins, una finestra cap el paisatge. També, per a que sigui un gran porxo que acompanya amb el seu pendent el moviment de la escala i defineix la coberta de la gran sala del gimnàs.
3 ELS DITS - ELS PATIS
El programa s’agrupa en allò que pertany al que és comú del centre i allò que pertany a la unitat de l'aula.
El que és comú es situa en l'ala que fa façana al carrer, les aules se situen en els dits interiors al voltant dels patis.
Els moviments dins dels dits, i el d’aquests en relació al pati de jocs, reprodueix la lògica dels antics recs i camins que solcaven el terreny.
