Valeo Industrial Unit
The Valeo Industrial Unit is located in the Can Vinyals Industrial Estate, in Santa Perpètua de Mogoda (Barcelona), with a ground-floor area of 6,000 m² (100 × 60), without any interior columns, creating a large open space. The first 25 metres, measured from the east side, are occupied by offices, while the remaining 75 metres accommodate the factory for automotive electronic components. On a semi-basement level, aligned with the upper offices, the laboratories and some technical facilities are located. The structure of the main warehouse consists of seven trusses, raised 6 metres above the floor, with an almost equilateral triangular section measuring approximately 5.20 m in height and 5.60 m in width, and spaced 12.00 m apart, resulting in a total warehouse length of nearly 100 m. These trusses, within which most of the building’s service networks are located, are supported solely by vertical elements positioned on the planes of the front and rear façades. The horizontal exterior roof plane is completed with appropriately placed purlins aligned with the base level of the trusses. The formal simplicity of the triangle, as well as its ability to translate external forces into sets of bars under tension or compression, provides a vivid example of the synthesis —or decomposition— of these forces into simpler, individual vectors, which are therefore more “domestic” and easily constructible.1997 - 1998

Els Pins Pre-School Centre
The school is organised as a network of classrooms and courtyards along a central corridor. The classrooms are grouped in pairs, sharing a group of bathrooms. This core has independent access and visual control from each of the classrooms. Each group has a private playground, which has the function of extending teaching activities outdoors. Close to the main entrance, we locate the multi-purpose room, functionally linked to the hall. The teachers' room has a centre of bathrooms adapted to people with reduced mobility, as well as the kitchen and warehouses. The connection to the existing Nursery School building is made through a porch extending the interior corridor. This connection has made it necessary to open a new door in the rear façade of the current centre and to rearrange the interior of a small room. The entire new building has been built with a system of load-bearing walls, of large-format ceramic pieces (2.00 m x 0.60 m x 0.20 m), supported on continuous concrete shoes on foundation wells. The truss and the crowning of the pieces is done using metal bands made of concrete blocks to be seen. On these walls there is a structure in wooden beams 28 cm wide that are left visible.2003 - 2005
